About

Company History

Thorpe’s roots trace back to 1946 when 4 brothers returned from World War II and started a mechanical company in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Over time, our services expanded alongside the growth of the communities we served. We first started in the membrane roofing industry in the 1950’s, and we were founding members of both the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) in 1960, as well as the Saskatchewan Roofing Contractors Association (SRCA) in 1963. Our work in Sheet Metal and Architectural Wall Systems grew significantly in the 1990’s in both the commercial and industrial sectors. In 2017, glazing was incorporated to offer the comprehensive building envelope services that we provide today.

Our operations expanded to Saskatoon in 2015 through the acquisition of Skyline Building Envelope Solutions Inc.’s Saskatchewan division. In subsequent years, we established new facilities in Prince Albert and Saskatoon, incorporated in-house fabrication capabilities, and established our Regina location. In 2024, we further increased our operational footprint by acquiring Metro Roofing & Sheet Metal Ltd., a Vancouver-based company with a strong history dating back to 1991.

Today, Thorpe consists of over 200 professionals providing integrated roofing, wall systems, glazing, and waterproofing services. Our organization is led by dedicated trade specialists and supported by a strong administrative team, built on decades of trust and relationships.
